Dresher Foundation awards Matching Grant

DRESHER FOUNDATION AWARDS $50,000 CHALLENGE GRANT  TO THE FAMILY TREE

BALTIMORE, MD, November 27, 2007 - The Dresher Foundation has awarded The Family Tree, Maryland's leading child abuse prevention agency, a $50,000 challenge grant to provide evidence-based family education services designed to prevent child abuse and neglect in Harford County.  To receive these critical funds, The Family Tree must leverage an additional $16,000 by July 1, 2008 from the County's individuals, corporations, and foundations who share our commitment to families.  This grant will allow The Family Tree to expand services within Harford County.

"The gift by The Dresher Foundation is a vote of confidence for The Family Tree's services and a demonstration of their commitment to strengthening Harford County's families and children," said Patricia K. Cronin, LCSW-C, The Family Tree's Executive Director. "Successfully achieving this challenge will allow The Family Tree to expand its services to reach those in need of support, and further engage the county around this serious issue."

The Family Tree has been dedicated to Harford County's families since 1982.  From a Bel Air office, they provide life changing family education and support programs, home visiting programs as well as a 24-hour crisis and referral hotline to families and children in need of help.  Parenting is one of the most difficult jobs.  The Family Tree works to give parents the tools they need to raise happy, healthy children.

The Dresher Foundation has been a dedicated partner of The Family Tree, whose programs better the lives of those in need. "We are pleased to provide The Family Tree this opportunity to engage the broader community to protect the children of Harford County," said Robin Platts, Dresher Foundation's Executive Director.  "It is our hope that the community joins this challenge so together we can ensure the health and safety of our children and families."
