  • Safe Haven:  Giving Your Newborn a Future - Have you been hiding your pregnancy? Are you pregnant and scared? Safe Haven, a state program managed by the Department of Human Resources, may have the answers for you. Maryland law allows you to hand over an unharmed infant anonymously (within the first 10 days of birth) without fear of arrest or prosecution.  To learn more about this alternative to abandonment, to speak to a professional counselor, or if you would like more information about the Safe Haven Program, contact The Family Tree's Family StressLine at 1-800-243-7337.
